Medical City is a 660-bed tertiary care center located in the heart of North Dallas at Central Expressway and Forest Lane. The hospital is home to Medical City Children's Hospital, the world-renowned Dallas Craniofacial Center and one of the top Transplant Centers in the country.

Over 1,150 physicians practice more than 95 medical specialties at Medical City. Patients come from all over the United States and 75 foreign countries to receive healthcare that is recognized on local, national and international levels.

Medical City received accreditation from The Joint Commission in 1991, 1995, 1998, 2001, 2004 and 2007.

Our Heart Transplant center received recognition from the Department of Health and Human Services as one of the country's premiere programs and continues to be one of the most active transplant programs in North Texas.

Specialists at Medical City Heart are at the forefront of cutting-edge technological innovations, such as robotic-assisted microsurgery, beating heart surgeries and minimally invasive heart surgeries.

Medical City also features a premiere cancer center. Patients undergoing life-saving stem cell transplants stay in separate state-of-the-art facilities that are uniquely designed to give them the best chances for successful outcomes.

Medical City Women's offers a continuum of care for women in all stages of life. A full spectrum of services includes wellness and diagnostic procedures, a state-of-the-art Labor and Delivery Unit accompanied by Level III Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units.

The Medical City campus is also home to Medical City Children's Hospital, a comprehensive children's hospital that serves as a regional referral center. Specialists from virtually every pediatric subspeciality, including cardiovascular, craniofacial, oncology and neuroscience services, practice here.

  • Medical City was founded in 1974 as a 367 bed hospital.
  • Medical City Children's Hospital opened in 1996 - a hospital within a hospital offering world-class pediatric care.
  • Medical City was awarded Magnet Recognition in December 2003 by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.  Of nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide, Medical City was the 94th in the nation, the ninth in the state, and the first in North Texas to earn this recognition.  Re-designation was achieved in April 2008, which makes Medical City the first in North Texas to earn Magnet recognition twice.
  • Medical City is undergoing a major $212 million expansion and renovation project that includes construction of a Critical Care Tower (opened 2006), a Pediatric Tower to house Medical City Children's Hospital (opening 2009).
  • Medical City has two emergency areas, including a separate ER for pediatric patients.
  • The Dallas Business Journal ranked Medical City first among "Best Places to Work" in 004 and second in the large company category in 2003.
